MISSION:
The mission of CMM is to support established Christian ministries with printed material that deepens the Biblical understanding of believers and, thus, matures the Church. CMM provides to these ministries the books of the late Dr. Maurice E. Wagner because they are useful tools that help resolve people's misconceptions about the fatherhood of God and about the relationship He desires to have with them. Such misconceptions, often caused by inadequate parenting, are most evident in those who have been victims of child abuse and/or trauma from war or other violence.
During his ministry as a pastor and, later, during a counseling ministry that spanned 40 years and more than 400,000 hours, Dr. Wagner developed unique insights that help resolve this pervasive problem. In retirement he wrote Bible study materials that reveal those insights. They are designed primarily to grow the "new nature" and to bring believers into the freedom in Christ that was designed by our heavenly Father for us to enjoy.
MINISTRIES:
USA (Prisons) -- Chaplains in Michigan and North Carolina are using Dr. Wagner’s books, provided at no cost or at reduced prices subsidized by CMM, to lead inmates to faith in Christ and on to Christian maturity. Believing prisoners now are ministering directly with their cellmates because of this training. Many inmates have expressed surprise that God is not at all like their earthly, abusive parents. Thus, their relationships with Jesus are taking on new joy and are bringing about real rehabilitation.
USA (Women’s Classes) -- Using Dr. Wagner’s book, The Sensation of Being Somebody, CMM board member, Terri Benedix, teaches classes for women on the Central Coast of California. To those confronted with life-threatening diseases, she provides encouragement and training which emphasizes the motivating power of our new nature in Christ.
KENYA -- In the Saiya district of West Kenya, 250 churches are using Dr. Wagner's books at the request of their Bishop, Joseph Wasonga. Because of generous donations, CMM has provided Bible study books at no charge. The study of these books has motivated believers in the Saiya churches to organize a missionary effort to other churches in an even poorer area of Kenya, 300 miles to the north. Also, in Kisumu, Kenya, through relief projects of ACTS, CMM has provided financial aid to orphans and widows who have been left destitute because of AIDS.
UGANDA -- CMM has provided printing facilities for Cornerstone Vocational Institute, located in Kampala and directed by Dr. James Butare of Wycliffe Bible Translators Australia. At CVI, young people, mostly orphaned by AIDS, will be trained in printing, sewing, and carpentry. Dr. Butare also oversees the translation of Dr. Wagner's four-volume series, Become the Person God Meant You to Be, into his native language, Kinyarwanda. In Kampala, the translator, John Mitubishu, supported by donations from CMM, has finished translating the first three volumes and now is working on the fourth.
RWANDA -- CMM has provided free copies of the three translated books to a number of pastors in Rwanda. These books, the first Bible studies available in their heart-language of Kinyarwanda, were chosen by Dr. Butare, himself a Rwandan, because he believes that they will help his people to find a new identity in Christ and, thus, to rebuild their society after the horror of the 1994 genocide. The books are used for both Bible study and literacy training.
SINGAPORE-- For the last two years, CMM has provided subsidized copies of The Sensation of Being Somebody to the Singapore Bible College, where the books are used as texts in classes on Biblical counseling.
